- Regarding my favorite rifle: I very much like a bolt
action light weight, preferably with a Manlicher stock. I
use a 30.06 because it has many factory bullet weight and
type options. I use a 220 grain bullet because I hunt in
very thick swamp and I get great performance through the
brush. If I hunt the open country, I go down to a 180 and
having sited the 220's in to be on at 100 yds., I am able
to shoot the 180's up to 200 yds. without having to hold
high on target. don ( dgb@execpc.com

- I really liked my old Savage 250/3000. It aimed itself
when necessary...even before I got a scope and fixed the
barrel and had to aim 6" low to left at 100yds. The
slide safety behind the trigger was nice too. She got me
my personal best buck...which happens to be the reigning
camp best. Alas, she was getting a little sloppy in the
bore and I traded her in for a brand new Browning .308
A-bolt Micromedallion. What a sweet piece! She is light
to hold, sweet to swing with, has a dynomite trigger pull
and a smooth as silk top slide safety. She's real pretty
too...with that sensuous and tight dark walnut stock. She
reaches out there, shoots flat, and knocks 'em down.
