Tales from this seasons hunt

A large number of hunters are out there now that the Southern Zone Deer Season is open, we are getting a mixture of success and failure tales coming in.

Bob and son Pete from the Siver family are having a great season. Bob took an 8 pointer during the Bow Season; Pete just bagged an 11 pointer on his dad’s birthday. Earlier this year Pete took a trophy 6×6 elk in Montana.

On the opening morning Kyle Colclough took his wife Robin out on the hunt, she took a 7 point buck, not bad for her first Buck.

In Chittenango Bill Batdorf had a good day; he only saw two deer all day and bagged them both. He was hunting with his son John, the first was a Doe in the morning with the Deer Management Permit (DMP) all filled out. Then a 6 point Buck later in the afternoon which had to be dragged from the swamp.

A guy named Charlie Wilson stumbled upon the biggest Buck he’d ever seen, to bad it was on the Friday before the season opened! On the opening day he was in the same area, but no sign of the Huge Buck. One of his friends reported seeing the antlers, bust didn’t get a shot due to the heavy cover.

Recently Brian Dam was hunting in Missouri in heavy rain when he saw a big Buck coming down a hill, he shot from 250 yards. The shot went through both lungs, however the Buck managed to battle back up the hill for 200 yards. He found it next to a hedgerow, a 9 pointer which will score in the 140’s.
