Day three of the nine day deer hunt kicks off on Monday.
Over 626 thousand hunters hit the woods for opening day of Wisconsin’s gun deer hunting season.
It was warmer than usual this weekend, but cooler temperatures are in store at the end of the hunt on Sunday.
As the kills came in, wildlife officials reported a large percentage of older bucks, many with good antler development.
Officials with the DNR are reporting a relatively quiet start to the hunt.
By late Saturday afternoon, two non fatal shooting accidents took place.
One Green County hunter received a gunshot wound to the thigh and another Grant County man was shot just below the buttocks, ouch!
Wardens are reminding hunters to practice basic firearm safety.
